Nvidia to buy AMD?

Saturday, February 23, 2008

AMD India refuted media reports that Nvidia is likely to acquire Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

Speaking to CyberMedia News, Alok Ohrie, MD, AMD India, denied any such move. “There is no such move,” he said.

Reports had quoted an analyst with the American Technology Research as saying that such a deal was possible.“The Intel/AMD road-map of integration of the CPU/GPU could pose a risk to Nvidia, and buying AMD propels Nvidia into a formidable competitor for Intel with the upside coming from Jen-Hsun Huang's (CEO, Nvidia) ability to re-architect AMD's design,” analyst Doug Freedman, said in his report.

Earlier in January, there were rumors of IBM taking over AMD.
