CII and PTC's seminar on IT in Design and Manufacturing

CII organized a two-day International seminar-cum-exposition on IT in Design and Manufacturing in India at India Habitat Center in Delhi, with PTC. This seminar aimed at providing companies with information, on the latest trends in technologies across the world, and the know-how to synergise these tools with their requirements.

Dr Gautam Soni, Advisor, Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, inaugurated the seminar-cum-exposition. He said, "The average growth rate in the manufacturing segment in India has been less than 5 percent, while the targeted growth rate was 8.9 percent. To bridge this gap, IT would play a significant role in revolutionizing the growth in the Design and Manufacturing industry."

The forum brought together the experts from all over the world to share their ideas with the Indian manufacturing industry. The profile of speakers at the forum included Sam McComas, Group Quality and IT Director, Marconi Naval Systems (UK), Michael Tsou, Advisor, MSX International, (USA), Charles E Fletner, President, Pathfinders Consulting Services (USA), Chris Davis, Technical Marketing Director, PTC (USA), KRA Nair, President-Development, Lucas TVS and R Krishna Kumar, Associate Professor, IIT,

Chennai.

Addressing the inaugural session at the seminar, Ramesh C Jain, Chairman, Manufacturing Technology Sub-Committee, CII (Northern Region) said, "CII has always played a pioneering role in bringing value-added programs and services to industry making it more competitive and efficient."
