In a bid to penetrate into the Indian broadband space, Capital technologies, a Hyderabad based company providing the infrastructure needed to set up broadband connections, is scouting for channel partners to market its range of products providing the last mile connectivity. The company has signed a tie-up with WaveRider, a Canadian company for providing and marketing its products in India region.

"To start with, we are looking forward to having a distributor network of about 30-40 partners who would be dealing in products like wireless bridge/router and LMS range of products. Our NCL 1170 is a wireless bridge, which could also act as a router as well giving it an edge over the other products in the same category," said, K Rajendra Chetty, MD, Capital tech.

The company is on a look out for distributors who have some experience with the RF products. "We are going to provide the initial training to our channel partners but they should have a fair amount of idea about the functioning of these RF products," he explained.

These products marketed by Capital are aimed at large business organizations requiring medium to high-speed throughput, the products provide the Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) superior subscriber satisfaction, network management, enhanced security and a variety of maintenance features including real time alarms.

For the ISPs, the company is providing a solution to provide wireless broadband access. For this ideally three Sectoral antennas are set up at the ISP's end and then it can provide a smooth and stable connection to upto 30 customers. The cost of each antenna is around Rs 3 lakh and it supports bandwidth upto 8-kbps and operates at 2.4 GHz.

For the end user the cost could be around Rs 5,000 as initial connection charges and then Rs 1000 per month. "The solution is extremely scalable all one needs to do is just install another antenna to scale up for the additional customers," he explained.

Capital is primarily focusing itself into providing wireless access products to provide the last mile solutions for Internet connectivity. The company started its operations in the month of March 1999 and employs 15 people as of now but as the company steps up its operations in India, the figure would go to around 35 in two months. The 1999 start-up is eyeing to garner around Rs 10 crore as its revenues for this year.(CNS)
