Mumbai-based Insta Impex has introdu-ced a unique con-cept of recycling
inkjet cartridges through Instafill kiosk. The first outlet to demonstrate this
concept was opened recently in Mumbai. The kiosk acts like a demo-cum-service
outlet for customers wanting to experience the controlled methods of recycling
inkjet cartridges (only for HP, Canon, Lexmark and Xerox cartridges).
According to Samir Parekh, Partner, the entire range of compact desktop
equipments have been designed to set up compact kiosks at corporate offices,
shopping centers, stationary and office supplies stores, universities and other
commercial places. A complete recycling system requires not more than 60 sq ft
of space.
The inkjet cartridge processing system uses techniques like electric circuit
testing, emptying, cleaning, centrifuging, vacuum chamber filling, pressurizing,
and final print testing for recycling every cartridge. Whereas, the normal
method for recycling inkjet cartridge has been to directly inject ink into the
cartridge using injectors.
The purpose of the kiosk is to demonstrate and distribute new equipments that
Insta has imported from Brazil-based TB Acessorios (TBA). Insta has signed an
exclusive agreement with TBA to distribute its inkjet cartridge recycling setup,
which will cost anywhere between Rs six-seven lakh for the end-customer. The
recycling systems are backed by German technology and assembled in Brazil.
"Being the first company in India to introduce such a concept, we are
already seeing encouraging response to the initial marketing that we did in the
last couple of weeks," said Harish Lalwani, Managing Partner of Insta Impex.
While the company intends to focus more on the reselling of these devices, it
will also provide recycling services through its Instafill outlet. The company
is offering an introductory price of Rs 150 and Rs 200 to refill black and color
cartridges respectively.
As of now the company does not have any plans to add more outlets, but wants
industry partners to buy this product and start their own Instafill kiosk.
