While the Athlon will be targeted at the high performance desktops, the Duron is targeted at those who seek value in their PC.

The AMD-760 chipset is designed to support new versions of the Athlon processor family featuring faster 266 MHz front side bus and running at clock speeds of 1.2 GHz, 1.3 GHz and 1 GHz.

DDR memory is an evolutionary technology that increases peak data throughput to the processor by up to 100 percent as compared to its predecessor SDRAM at comparable costs. AMD has worked closely with third party partners to support the cause of DDR memory platform solutions and has helped the industry to drive to a single DDR memory specification. AMD and other memory vendors have also worked with SMART Modular Technologies, an independent validation test house to ensure the compatibility and reliability of the memory solutions.
