Saturday, March 18, 2006

Siliguri Computer Fair 2006, the biggest IT exhibition in North Bengal and Sikkim was held recently. The four-day mega exhibition was organized by Kaleidoscope at the Kanchanjunga Stadium Mela Ground, Siliguri.

The event witnessed a total of about 50,000 footfall in four days. The annual fair was started four years back with a handful of participants. It is considered to be the most impressive technology trade show in the region. This year there were about 48 participants and a total of 89 stalls. “The figures reflect the growing demand of the industry for a marketing platform that allows exhibitors to enjoy a more frequent and target audience for different selling occasions,” opined Dipak Saha, Managing Partner of Kaleidoscope, organizer of the fair.

Stalls put up by local channel partners.

The event was attended by representatives from the technology, broadcasting, cable, content, engineering, educational and numerous other industries who converged in Siliguri. For the end user the exhibition was an opportunity to view latest products and trends in information technology, computer, networking, accessories, emerging technology, home networking, home theater, mobile electronics, video and wireless.

An unofficial estimate of the total transaction of the fair was about Rs 1 crore. Another positive indicator for the fair is the number of participants who come here every year. Companies like Epson, Canon, LG, D-Link, Tech-com and HP have been regular participators. The main sponsor of the fair was Chirag, while Tech-com and Isyn were associate sponsors. The DQ Week was the official media partner of the event. Among the top local channel partners who participated in the event were Placewell Systems, Universal Computer, Logic Fusion, Technocrat Infotech, Digital Infotech and North Bengal Computers.
