In order to provide connectivity on the go, New Delhi-based Micromax
Technologies has launched its EDGE-enabled data card along with Airtel. Priced
at Rs 2,999, it is being pushed through the existing distribution network of
Airtel.
“This data card has features like a plug and play device, EDGE-enabled and
have a 230Kbps speed,” informed, Rahul Sharma, COO, Micromax Technologies. The
company aims to sell around 15,000 to 20,000 units per month pan India.

In addition to this, the New Delhi-based company has also launched a range of
mobile phones under the brand name 'Mircomax'. The mobiles are pricesd between
Rs 1,999 to 10,000.
Targeted at youth, the company claims to offer a better value for money for
every product purchased. “Every product has some special features. The basic
model costs Rs 1,999 has a standby battery back up of 30 days, which is unique
and not available with any of the other brands in market,” said Sharma. The
high-end phones also offer feature like Motion Sensors Technology. A user can
change songs, video, pictures etc by just flicking it. Even some of them support
technologies like IPTV (Internet Protocol Television)
The company is distributing the product through its offices in Dehradun,
Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Gurgaon, and Ludhiana. Besides the company has tied
up with Prabhat group of companies in Mumbai for western region, Anu
Distributors in Karnataka. However, the company is still looking for potential
partners in some key locations including Hyderabad.
Revealing its future plans, Sharma said, “We are soon coming up with a few
high-end models under the brand name 'EXTREME'. The price range would be Rs
10,000 to Rs 20,000 and will have unique features as per our tradition.”
