Magnum Computers will be launching its first retail showroom in Chennai. The
showroom is exclusively for laptops and electronic gadgets in Ritchie Street.
The showroom would be opened in Rajendra Complex on Dec 12, 2008, where the
place owned by Magnum Computers has been used as a warehouse for almost six
years.
“We have been involved in distribution and sub-distribution business, and
don't have a showroom concept as such. Moreover, there is no exclusive showroom
for laptops in Ritchie Street, and Magnum Computers will be the first of its
kind,” claimed NJ Saimurali, Managing Partner, Magnum Computers.
Depending on the success of this showroom, the company will come up with more
such showrooms, but on an exclusive concept with each vendor. “We prefer to go
for exclusive tie-ups with each vendor for the retail showrooms. We feel that
these kinds of exclusive retail outlets will be a mode for sustainability in
business in the future,” Saimurali claimed.
Claiming that the over all sales have been hit by 30-40 percent due to the
slowdown, Saimurali said that Magnum has been cautious in keeping huge steps.
“We stopped being aggressive for the past two quarters and between May-July, we
have been slow in making decisions. This has actually lessened the impact of
slowdown in Magnum,” he informed.
