Intel to scale-up education and health program in India

In an attempt to improve the education and health sectors in India, Intel is extending the benefits of its 'World Ahead Program', which aims to enhance lives by accelerating access to uncompromised technology to everyone, anywhere in the world. Launching the e-health program, in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India at St Philomena Girls Higher Secondary School in Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, Craig Barrett, Chairman, Intel Corp, announced sweeping of new effort to transform the health care and education in rural India.

"Applying technology in pioneering ways can help increase access to healthcare and improve quality of life of people everywhere. We have seen how technology has enhanced people's lives in Baramati, a small town in Maharashtra where our pilot project on health sector was a great success, and we look forward to seeing this replicated on a larger scale across Tamil Nadu and the rest of the country in near future," said Barrett.

Anbumani Ramadoss, Union Minister-Health and Family Welfare, India promised a full-fledged support on behalf of the government for scaling up the process within the country.
